MUŅOZONIAN USA ANNOUNCES APPROVAL OF BRIDGE TO EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Muņozonian USA announced the approval of its Bridge to Education Program that will fund up to 10 scholars for four (4) years of high school education at its regular meeting on November 5, 2005. The scholarships will provide a stipend of P1100 a month to each student during the 10-month school year for a total of P11000 and the said program will start in June, 2006.
To qualify for the scholarship, students must graduate within the top three of their graduating class and take the University Science High School entrance examination in April, 2006. The top 10 scorers from among this pool of applicants will be awarded the scholarship.
All barrio schools are eligible to participate and awardees will be announced in May 2006.
Muņozonian USA has launched a fundraising campaign through a direct mail appeal - a benefit dance is also planned in the future. "Our goal is to raise $8000.00 to adequately fund the program for four years," a spokesman for the organization said. "If we can raise more, we will fund more scholars in subsequent years - but that is not a promise."
