Mayor Alvarez takes part in Luzon Island Cluster Meeting; participates in 2nd LCP Caravan

Science City of Muņoz Mayor Nestor L. Alvarez attends the Luzon Island Cluster Meeting in Bicol Region on April 17-20, 2008. The meeting was conducted by the League of Cities on the Philippines which provides a venue for the local chief executives and their officials to dialogue with national government particularly on programs and projects that have direct impact on their respective constituencies.

The Luzon Island Cluster Meeting was followed by the 36th National Executive Board Meeting held at Avenue Plaza Hotel, Naga City presided by Mandaluyong City Mayor Benjamin C. Abalos, Jr., LCP National President.

The 2nd LCP Caravan commenced the Executive Board Meeting. The caravan has covered all the cities in Bicol except the Masbate. All Luzon city mayors who attended the caravan conducted several outreach activities and livelihood training programs in every city which includes the distribution of support food and medicines, free eyeglasses, wheelchairs, scholarships, and livelihood packages to family-beneficiaries.

The LCP members also witnessed the inauguration ceremony of its new city hall at Barangay Sta. Cruz. Highlights of which are the symbolic turnover of free eye glasses and wheelchairs to indigent beneficiaries.

Mayor Alvarez who serves as the focal person on Millennium Development Goals of the LCP was accompanied by Mr. Jaime Antonio, Jr. and Mr. Enrique Lazaro of the Science City of Muņoz.
